Ezekiel Emanuel: “U.S. Must Stay Locked Down For 12-18 Months Until There’s A Vaccine”
“Realistically, COVID-19 will be here for the next 18 months or more. We will not be able to return to normalcy until we find a vaccine or effective medications. I know that’s dreadful news to hear. How are people supposed to find work if this goes on in some form for a year and a half? Is all that economic pain worth trying to stop COVID-19? The truth is we have no choice.”

But back on February 20th Zeke was saying that risks remained low here and that it might fade away with the summer heat and may not return.
Apparently he has changed his mind since then.
OK, I have a lot to say about this.
“Ol Zeke here is the brother of Rahm never-let-a-good-crisis-go-to-waste Emanuel, also known as Rahm “Dead Fish” Emanuel because he actually sent a dead fish in a box to a pollster who was late delivering polling results back when he was in charge of getting Democrats elected to Congress. The fish was a big mackerel, in an advanced state of decay and like a good mafia boss Rahm also included a letter in the box which read, “It’s been awful working with you.”
Yeah, that’s a normal thing to do. To be so angry that you think this, plan this and actually execute the steps to accomplish this.
And brother Zeke is just as crazy as brother Rahm having promoted euthanizing the elderly back in the heady days of Obamacare when he said he “wanted to be dead by his 75th birthday” as the elderly are “feeble, ineffectual and pathetic.” So much for the Hippocratic Oath. He’s 62 now and I suspect he will have a change of heart in, oh, say about 13 years.
OK, back to the lockdown.
This 12 to 18 month quarantine, lockdown, social distancing, whatever one wants to call it, is clearly an attempt to force monumental change and socialism upon America.
If you think this sounds crazy allow me to make my case.
If we were to stay “locked down” for 12 to 18 months the United States would be an economic wasteland with most of the population living in tent cities in fields. How are people supposed to pay for food, housing, insurance, electricity, water, fuel, entertainment, credit card bills, school loans, etc. if they are not allowed to leave the houses they were foreclosed out of for 12 to 18 months? The entire populace would be beholden to the “Supreme Government Gods” for the basic necessities of life making it easy to usher in complete control by whatever malevolent power structure there might be in place at that time. Scared, hungry people will follow almost anyone or any policy prescription that promises their delivery from misery.
I do not think this is hyperbole as no sane person could possibly advocate for such a policy in response to a disease that is now predicted to kill a total of 60,000 people; less than the count killed in a bad influenza season.
Further, it now seems that with the monetary feeding frenzy that is taking place in Congress we are in mortal danger as a country. There is talk of “Stimulus Bailout Number 2” and numbers three, four and five are also being bandied about.
Do they hear themselves? Do they have any idea what this will do to the economy or are the economic illiterates who think money, and thus wealth, rolls off a printing press in charge?
Long before the dystopian version of America they dream of comes to pass there will be civil war. Civil disobedience and small scale civil unrest are already sprouting in places where the government has sought to completely lock down the citizenry, issuing fines and arresting people for coming out and/or not being “socially distanced” enough as they walk on the beach or in a park. Does anyone think this unrest will decrease as the months of privation roll on? Americans will not tolerate being told they cannot come out of their houses and that they cannot go for a walk or a drive.
And all of this seems to be in response to what is now appearing to be fairly mild compared to the screaming headlines of just a few weeks ago that foretold of a plague of biblical proportions.
We need to be careful with our response to this as the world, including mortal enemies of the United States, are watching. Let’s give China the benefit of the doubt and assume this was all an accident or a natural occurrence even if said benefit is perhaps undeserved. Might some malevolent regime, upon seeing America self-destruct over what is essentially a bad flu, consider this as a very useful economic weapon to be deployed in the future?
We the people of America need real data, real numbers of how many have this disease and how many have already had it. At this time we simply do not know. And now there is an article with this headline:
“Intelligence report warned of coronavirus crisis as early as November: Sources”
Could it be that this menace has been with us for several months before we were even aware of its existence? Might some number of the large increase in west coast flu cases that presented in the last quarter of 2019 have been Covid-19 when no one was even looking for it?
Another article has this intriguing headline:
“Only 6% of coronavirus cases actually being detected, claims chilling study”
The sub headline reads:
“If German researchers are correct that worldwide cases have been “dramatically understated” due to insufficient testing, as many as 25 million people could have Covid-19”
If this is true then a little 3rd grade math shows a mortality rate of 0.3%
Regular seasonal influenza has a mortality rate of 0.1% to 0.2% depending upon the season and where you live.
If these articles are true this may mean we are well on our way to herd immunity which would mean we could begin to go back to work and reopen America, despite what some in government clearly do not want for disquieting reasons yet to be revealed.
